Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)

J2ME is a collection of Java programming interfaces that allow applications to be developed specifically for devices with limited computational resources such as mobile phones. With most new phones supporting Java, J2ME provides an ideal platform for developing client side applications with wireless connectivity.

For example, the Hot-or-Not phenomenon is now expanding into the mobile world, with a J2ME application allowing users to view and rate existing members on their mobile phone.
